HLSP supported the establishment of a multi-disciplinary team
of skilled professionals to provide technical support and advice to
the Minister of Health. The Ministerial Advisory Committee on
Health (MACH) and its sub-committees – the technical task teams –
are dedicated to strengthening South Africa's health system.
Six technical task teams were established. They have
been identifying issues and challenges in all areas of the health
system. The teams cover health workforce; information; medical
products; finance; service delivery, leadership and governance; and
health technology and infrastructure.
The technical task teams are supported by integrated support teams
(ISTs). These multi-skilled teams have been assesing a range of
health systems activities in all provinces. They report directly to
the Minister of Health.
HLSP sourced and contracted 70 expert consultants who are now hard
at work across the country, financed by the RRHF.
