Barbara Hogan, Minister of Health from October 2008
to May 2009
The Rapid Response Health Fund (RRHF) was established in
November 2008. It was designed to provide rapid and flexible
financial and technical assistance to support Barbara Hogan, the
Minister of Health during October 2008 and May 2009.
Hogan's goal was to reorient and revitalise South Africa's health
and AIDS policy and implementation.
Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, current Minister of
HealthIn May 2009 Dr Aaron Motsoaledi became the new
Minister of Health. He confirmed the new administration's
committment to strengthen the country's health system and AIDS
response. Dr Motsoaledi released a ten-point plan for health that
included accelerating the implementation of the HIV&AIDS
National Strategic Plan, improving the quality of health services
and mass mobilisation for the better health of the population. Dr
Motsoaledi welcomed the RRHF and has continued to use the fund to
further health goals.
